Glass Beer Bottles 1880's to early 1900's |
Below is our selection of Bottles of the type that has the blob top that were designed for use with the bail & stopper. The Lightning stopper type top was invented in the late 1870's and became the main stopper type bottle that were used from the 1880's to early 1900's. Another type of top was called the Baltimore Loop. The 1895 invention of the crown top bottle that used a metal cap brought the end of the blobtop bottles.
These blob top bottles were the main type of bottles the Breweries used for Beer. Some of these bottles may have been used for sodas or mineral waters but for the most part they were used for Beer.
All prices below are in U. S. Dollars.
.
All are authentic time period items.
Note: the white spots on the bottle in the pictures are just the reflections of the sun.

Bottle-BB-001 Richter of Escanaba, Michigan A nice early 1900's Amber Brewery Beer Bottle The bottle embossing says "RICHTER BREWING CO ESCANABA MICH." in a round slug plate on the front. On the base is barely readable but it looks like it says "B & CO". The bottle is a medium brown color amber and it is a blown in mold bottle with a tooled top. The top is the Baltimore Loop type. The bottle is about 11 inches tall. The bottle has has some ground wear with some rubs, some very small nicks on the base edge and a little lite inside stains. This is a nice window bottle. Escanaba is in the upper region of Michigan above Wisconsin near Lake Michigan. Note: The light color in the left side of the bottle in the pictures are just reflection of the housewall and the white areas/spots just reflections of the sun. . From the 1910 Census of Escanaba, Delta County, Michigan, we find: JOHN RICHTER age 50, widower, born ca. 1860 in Wisconsin; his children Charles age 18 born ca. 1892 in Wisconsin and Adella age 15 born ca 1895 in Michigan.
