Below is a selection of Bottles of the type that are embossed and blown in mold with a hand applied tooled tops of the type that uses corks. Some are the early screw cap type.
These bottles were used in the period of late Victorian era to the Edwardian era, 1890's to early 1900's. some may be from the early part of King George V period, early 1910's.
Collect these antique bottles, it is a nice item from the past. Some other people buy them because the bottle has the same last name as they have.

J. Minns of Carlisle, Cumberland, England A nice flask type bottle from the Victorian Edwardian Era 1890's to early 1900's
The bottle embossing says "T & J. MINNS WINE MERCHANTS CARLISLE" on the front. On the base is "11011" embossed on the sunken oval panel. Some people call the shape of the bottle like a pumpkin seed type bottle. The bottle is of a nice light greenish Aqua color and it is a blown in mold bottle with the applied tooled top of the type that uses a cork. There are some small bubbles in the glass. The bottle is in a nice shiny condition. The bottle is about 6 1/2 inches tall and about 4 inches wide at the widest point.

Wilson of Carlisle, Cumberland, England A nice whiskey flask type bottle from the Victorian Edwardian Era 1890's to early 1900's
The bottle embossing says "J. H. WILSON WINE & SPIRIT MERCHANT CARLISLE" on the front. On the base is what looks like "6247" embossed on the sunken oval panel. Some people call the shape of the bottle like a pumpkin seed type bottle. The bottle is of a nice light greenish Aqua color and it is a blown in mold bottle with the applied tooled top of the type that uses a cork. The bottle is in a nice shiny condition with a couple of lite scratches on the reverse due to burial. The bottle is about 5 1/4 inches tall and 3 3/8 inches wide at the widest point.

From the 1891 Census of Rickergate (near Carlisle), we find the following: John Hind Wilson Jr. age 30 born in Staniwix, Cumberland; and his wife Sarah Elinor age 25 born in Plumpton, Cumberland. John Hind Wilson jr. was listed as a Spirit Merchant.
From the 1901 census of Carlisle Caldewgate, Cumberland, we find the following: John Hind Wilson age 40 born in Staniwix, Cumberland; his wife Sarah E. age 35 born in Catterlew, Cumberland: his daughter Olive F. age 9 born in Carlisle, Cumberland. John Hind Wilson was listed as a Wine & Spirit merchant . . |

Brown of Edinburgh, Scotland A nice Scottish flask type bottle from the early 1900's
The bottle embossing says "JAMES BROWN 43 HOME STREET EDINBURGH" on the front. The bottle is of a nice light bluish Aqua color and it is a blown in mold bottle with the applied tooled top of the type that uses a cork. There are many small bubbles in the glass. The bottle is in a nice shiny condition with little ground wear. The bottle is about 5 7/8 inches tall.
